A 26-year-old man was declared dead at the scene of a one-car accident in Maryland on the evening of Sept. 10. The decedent was sitting in the front passenger seat before the accident occurred on Hilltop Road in Fair Hill. The driver and a backseat passenger were both taken to local hospitals for treatment.

A spokesman for the Cecil County Sheriff’s Office said that the accident took place at around 9:30 p.m. The 25-year-old driver lost control of his 2012 Ford Mustang while traveling northbound. After crossing the center line, the driver hit two trees, and the front seat passenger was ejected. There were no initial reports about whether the deceased victim had been wearing a seat belt before he was killed. After fatal car accidentslike this, the investigation often takes some time to conclude.

After the accident, medical personnel flew the driver to the Shock Trauma Center, and he was reported to be in critical condition. The 24-year-old woman who was sitting in the backseat of the car was taken to a local hospital by ambulance. She was reportedly released shortly after she was treated. Though no criminal charges were filed immediately after the crash, the spokesman for the sheriff’s office said that the investigation is ongoing, and charges may be filed at a later date.

A passenger who was injured in a one-car accident may choose to file a personal injury complaint against the driver’s insurance provider. An attorney may be able to assist an injured car accident victim with the process of filing a claim by assessing the financial damages that the victim incurred and gathering evidence of the driver’s negligence.
