Montgomery County police cruiser collides with teen

With reports of accidents frequently dotting the headlines, articles and reports rarely tap into life after the accident for those involved. While the accident slips out of mind, victims often do as well. Serious injuries sustained in a vehicle accident can affect victims for years, from seemingly endless medical expenses to continued pain and suffering. Whether it's a case of a distracted driver or one under the influence, every victim deserves to know about their options.

Pedestrian accidents are particularly damaging, often leaving victims severely injured. In a tragic turn of events, this scenario played out in Montgomery County, Maryland. Police are investigating an accident involving a police cruiser and a female pedestrian in Gaithersburg on late last month. According to reports, Montgomery County Police were responding to a fight at Watkins Mill High School when the incident occurred.

A 15-year-old female pedestrian was struck by the cruiser on Apple Ridge Road. Reports indicate that the female stepped between two police vehicles responding to the call at the high school, with the second cruiser striking her. The injured teen was transported to the hospital where she was conscious and capable of communicating with staff. The student was listed in a critical condition.

As per standard procedure, the officer involved in the crash was placed on paid administrative leave as the investigation into the crash continues.

Those injured in motor vehicle accidents should familiarize themselves with the laws regarding compensation for damages inflicted. Through personal injury laws they may be entitled to compensation for their injuries.
