Car accident on I-95 sends car dangling on overpass

Anything can happen during a traffic accident, particularly when multiple vehicles are involved. There are so many factors that can contribute to the severity of the collision that makes it difficult to predict how bad the accident will be and how serious the injuries the parties involved might sustain. In addition to property damage and bodily injury, sometimes car accidents can turn into something only seen in the movies.

A multi-car accident on southbound I-95 caused a vehicle to temporarily dangle over the edge of the overpass. According a Maryland Transportation Authority Police public information officer, a tractor trailer truck hit a car which, in turn, collided into a flat-bed truck that was transporting a BMW. The BMW slid off the bed of the tow truck and dangled over the barrier. The way it was attached to the flat bed, however, prevented it from falling over completely as the front of the vehicle pointed towards the sky.

Luckily, no one was in the vehicle at the time of the accident. Cleanup efforts caused traffic to be backed up for two hours though. The accident occurred on Monday of this week just before noon. The drivers of the car and tow truck were taken to local hospitals with what police described as non-life threatening injuries.

It is unknown at this time what exactly caused the truck accident. Depending on the circumstances, those injured in the accident may be able to collect compensation through a personal injury claim for medical bills, pain and suffering and other damages related to their injuries from the party responsible for causing the collision. Car and truck accidents, especially those involving large tractor-trailer type trucks and multiple vehicles often result in serious injuries or death however thankfully in this particular case it appears those involved escaped relatively unharmed.
