Baltimore pedestrian dies months after being hit by a car

Baltimore County Police said a 39-year-old woman who was hit by a car last December has recently died and an autopsy will be performed to determine the exact cause of death. The fatal accident occurred two days before Christmas near Rolling Road and the 6200 block of Baltimore National Pike.

According to the investigation, a 42-year-old driver of a minivan was travelling west on Rolling Road when he attempted to make a left hand turn onto Baltimore National Pike. After swerving across the Pike he then jumped the curb and struck the pedestrian, pinning her against the concrete wall. The victim was taken to the hospital with life threatening injuries.

As much as we try to play it safe in life certain events just cannot be predicted. One minute you are walking along the sidewalk and next minute you are fighting for your life in a hospital bed, and through no fault of your own. Life can be like that sometimes. For victims of personal injuries and the family members affected by their injuries, there are tort laws that can help them recover certain damages that result from the injuries they suffer.

The loss of a family member through the negligent or reckless actions of another can be devastating in so many ways. In addition to the emotional trauma, there is the financial impact in the form of medical expenses, funeral costs and lost income. In cases involving a wrongful death claim the judge will look at a variety of issues, including the age of the deceased and how his or her death impacts the surviving family members.

Every case is unique, with unique consequences and circumstances. Consulting a personal injury attorney experienced in wrongful death cases can help you determine the full extent of the damages if your family has suffered the loss of a loved one though the reckless or negligent actions of another.

In this case police found the driver of the vehicle to be at fault, and although the investigation is ongoing they said it does not appear that drugs or alcohol were a factor in the fatal accident.
