Maryland family perishes in car accident travelling across country

A Maryland family of four died earlier this month as a result of a car accident while moving across the country. The family, which had decided to make the move to live on the West Coast, was traveling in two separate vehicles to make the trip when the pileup occurred. The 30-year-old father was traveling in a 2010 Ford Mustang while the 28-year-old mother and the couple's two sons were in a 2007 Toyota Corolla. While on the road, a truck failed to slow down and ploughed into the back of the father's vehicle, which then pushed his wife's car under another truck in front of her vehicle. All four family members died at the scene of the pileup.

NCAA insurance to pay expenses for player's spinal cord injuries

Maryland residents may be interested to learn that 12 percent of all spinal cord injuries are sports-related, according to the Centers for Disease Control. The average costs for treating spinal cord injuries ranges between $15,000 and $30,000 each year and can reach anywhere from $500,000 to well over $3 million over a lifetime for care and treatment of a spinal cord injury. The National Collegiate Athletic Association pays 100 percent of the premium for its Catastrophic Injury Insurance plan, which is good news for one college football player who was seriously injured earlier this month while playing in a game.

Maryland State Trooper seriously injured by tractor trailer truck

In yet another violation of the "move over law," a Maryland State Trooper has been seriously injured while on duty. The accident occurred along Interstate 70 in June however authorities have just recently released the dash camera video of the incident in hopes of educating the public about the dangers of not obeying this relatively new law. The Maryland State Trooper was seriously injured in the accident, which according to the video could have been much worse.

Tragic Montgomery County motorcycle accident kills 1

A three-vehicle motorcycle and car accident left a 34-year-old Kingman motorcyclist dead and sent a second motorcyclist to the hospital, according to reports. The accident happened in Montgomery County close to the State Road 32 and County Road 775 intersection around 1:00 p.m. Wednesday of last week. The second motorcyclist, a 35-year-old Rockville man was airlifted from the accident scene and taken to an Indianapolis hospital after the accident.
