Baltimore police officer injured in car accident files lawsuit

A Baltimore police officer was assisting a stranded motorist on the side of the road last June when the driver of another vehicle lost control of his vehicle and crashed into her patrol car, which in turn struck her sending her over an embankment. The police officer suffered serious injuries in the car accident and has filed a personal injury lawsuit against the driver of the vehicle, as well as the owner of that vehicle.

Glen Burnie senior injured when wheel chair starts on fire

Officials at the Anne Arundel County Fire Department reported that a fire broke out early Sunday morning at a Glen Burnie, Maryland, senior citizens midrise complex on Crain Highway. The senior escaped serious injury when the wheelchair he was sitting in caught fire and filled the first floor of the complex with smoke. When firefighters arrived they found the senior sitting in the electronic wheelchair, which was on fire.

Doctors handwritten prescriptions could prove to be fatal

Although many Maryland residents have moved beyond handwritten communications and dictation in the workplace, the vast majority of doctors are still handwriting their prescriptions. Some of these handwritten prescriptions result in medication errors and could prove fatal for some patients if they receive the wrong medication or dosage due to a transcription error. Doctors are famous for their chicken-scratch handwriting, so why are they still doing this in the age computer technology and electronic communications?

Four years ago a Clarksburg teen was injured by a Montgomery County police cruiser driven by an off-duty officer while he was crossing the street in front of his home. The now 16-year-old suffered permanent brain damage and spinal cord injuries and is now a quadriplegic. With little use of his arms he has been undergoing physical therapy to strengthen his muscles and hopes to one day walk again.
